Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Orthopedic Med/Surg position in Dallas, TX, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 1 year of med/surg experience.
Details
- Located on the 2nd floor of a hospital's spine building in a 22-bed post-surgical orthopedic unit
- Typical cases include hip and knee replacement, joint reconstruction, lumbar and cervical disc surgery, orthopedic spine surgery, and Tarlov/meningeal cyst removal
- Patient ratio is 1:5 with ancillary support
- Equipment used includes PCA pumps, ice machines, Welch Allyn vital sign machines, telemetry boxes, and IV pumps
- EMR is Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- No on-call requirements
- Floating is frequently required within the unit to Telemetry, with occasional float to a sister facility
- Patient volume is heaviest mid-week; candidates must be available to work shifts as needed
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent med/surg RN experience required
- Orthopedic or PCU experience preferred
- Meditech EMR experience is a plus
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position
- RTO requests are subject to strict limitations and excessive RTO will not be approved
- Ideal candidates are energetic team players who thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced post-surgical environment
- The unit is staffed by 36 team members with staffing levels that vary by census
