Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care hospital Birthing Center, requiring AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certification and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within a high-volume Birthing Center featuring 13 L&D beds, 8 triage beds, and 17 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes high-risk labor and antepartum cases, averaging approximately 7 births per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 for active labor, 1:3 for triage, and 1:6 for postpartum/mom-baby
- Fetal heart monitoring system: GE Corometrics; telemetry system: Philips
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV placement skills required
- Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 7p–7:30a, three shifts per week
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts and 2 Friday shifts per schedule
- Rotating holiday coverage per unit policy
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required
- OB and neonatologist are in-house 24/7; support staff including charge nurse, house supervisor, nurse aides, and OB techs are scheduled on every shift
- Respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and IV team available 24/7
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (no expired certifications accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV placement required
- Driver's license address must be from a location more than 50 miles from the facility
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Care for high-risk labor and antepartum patients in a fast-paced, well-supported birthing center environment
- Ceil blue scrubs are hospital-issued
- Floor-specific orientation is provided
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
- Candidates who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative year must also take a 2-year break before returning
- First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible — prior L&D experience is strongly emphasized
