Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiology/IMC Stepdown Unit position requiring at least 2 years of cardiology experience and ND or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Acute care stepdown unit (Cardiology/IMC) in a hospital setting
- 34-bed unit with 28 cardiac medical floor beds and 6 IMC beds
- Cardiac patient population including CHF, pacemaker placements, PCIs, TAVRs, heart caths, AFib with RVR, and patients requiring BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 or 1:5; 1:3 when assigned an IMC patient
- 12-hour shifts on a day/night rotating schedule
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Charting in Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Omnicell, Alaris IV pumps, and central monitoring
Requirements
- Active ND or compact state RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (both must be AHA-issued) required
- Minimum 2 years of cardiology nursing experience required
- Competency in central line care, chest tubes, foley catheter insertion, trach care, heparin and insulin drips, angiograms, post-pacemaker care, and post-TAVR procedures required
- Experience with low-dose vasopressors (for IMC patients) required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two current professional references required — one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
- Active certifications (no pending) required at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include maintaining provider orders, chest tube management, titrating low-dose pressors (IMC), and foley catheter insertion
- A free charge nurse is available on day shifts to support primary nurses
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
- This location does not accept candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility
- Navy blue scrubs required
- All staff must badge in and out at the facility
