Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ED Hold position that also floats to a Med/Surg Tele unit, requiring a valid CA RN license and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.
Details
- Primary assignment is an ED Hold position, with float coverage to the Med/Surg Tele unit when not utilized in ED Hold
- Hospital setting with a combined adult and pediatric general emergency department
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule working 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- Weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirement
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS, and PALS
- TNCC preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency with ED clinical skills including triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV therapy, central line and arterial line management, ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, procedural sedation, and emergency medication administration
- Experience managing psychiatric patients, including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, and drug overdose
- 2 supervisory references obtained within the past year required for consideration
- 7-year work history verification required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include thorough assessment and documentation, performing clinical procedures (IV, Foley, dressings), patient and family education, telemetry monitoring, safe medication administration, and recognizing changes in patient condition
- Candidate must be willing to float to the Med/Surg Tele unit when not needed in the ED Hold role
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Former employees or travelers may return with no required separation period; former manager's name must be provided on the application
- RTO is limited to 7 days per contract; only 1 holiday may be requested off per contract
- Holidays with coverage requirements include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (holiday coverage begins at 7:00 PM the night before and ends at 7:00 AM the day after)
- All certifications must be issued by AHA or ARC
