Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU travel assignment requiring delivery attendance experience and Epic proficiency, with no first-time travelers considered.
Details
- Work setting is a hospital NICU environment
- Level III NICU patient population including critically ill and premature neonates
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3 in the NICU
- Floating required to the Normal Newborn Nursery (NOU) with ratios of 1:4–6
- Epic EMR experience required
- Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend requirement
- Holiday coverage required for at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday per contract
Requirements
- Active LA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of NICU nursing experience required
- Level III NICU experience required
- Delivery attendance experience (vaginal and C-section) required
- Proficiency in neonate IV placement, lab draws, ventilator management, and central line management required
- Experience with blood administration and multi-route medication administration required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
- Copy of a valid driver's license required for consideration
- Work history gaps of more than 30 days must be listed and explained
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include attending deliveries, admitting and discharging neonates, coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT), educating and updating parents, and supporting breastfeeding
- Procedures include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, CBG/ABG collection, intubation, oxygen and nitric oxide administration, exchange transfusions, and supporting imaging studies (x-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, EEGs)
- Self-scheduling model in place
- Grape/purple scrubs required
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer for the duration of the contract
