Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) position specializing in neurological and medical intermediate patients, requiring telemetry skills and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

  • Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) within a hospital setting, focused on neurological and medical intermediate patient populations
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 with a maximum unit census of 24 patients
  • Required skills include telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, IV starts, and drip management
  • Uses Epic (EMR), Pyxis (medication dispensing), and SBAR communication framework
  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Schedule is built to fill unit gaps per unit needs; 36- or 48-hour work weeks available
  • 3 weekends every 6 weeks, totaling 6 weekend shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday)
  • Floating required to other intermediate care areas as well as critical care
  • Contract length is 13 weeks minimum, with extensions up to 26 weeks available

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license (may be pending at time of application)
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; neuro experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with telemetry, ventilators, IV insertion, and drip management
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years (pending at submission is acceptable, but required prior to start)
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
  • Orientation consists of 32 hours total: one 8-hour computer/classroom session plus two on-unit orientation shifts
  • Pre-start modules (approximately 8–10 hours) must be completed before the assignment begins and annually thereafter
  • Candidates who have previously worked for Novant Health or New Hanover as permanent, PRN, or EP staff must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
  • Travel pairs are permitted; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
  • Preferred certifications include CCRN, TNCC, and CPI
  • Preferred skills include triage, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and charge nurse experience
  • Strong teamwork approach and adherence to the facility's call-off policy are strictly required

My phone showed her number as spam and I think blocked some of the texts I wish it hadn't have done that but that was nothing on her end all on mine so make sure that you have your settings to allow the calls and texts from spam
