Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and charge experience.

Details

Acute care Med/Surg unit in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) teaching hospital in Roanoke, VA
Patient population includes adults recovering from elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder procedures, and cellulitis
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
Floating within skillset required
Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; a pending license is accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
Current BLS certification required
Charge nurse experience required
Proficiency in Med/Surg care with experience utilizing Rapid Response and Code teams
Skilled in peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions
Epic EMR experience required
Two professional references required for consideration
Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

RN may be required to serve in a charge nurse role and to precept other staff
The facility is a 703-licensed-bed academic teaching hospital affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, University of Virginia, and Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Magnet-designated facility recognized for nursing excellence for over 20 years
One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at time of initial consideration
