Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Pulmonary/GI) position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring Epic proficiency and stepdown-level clinical skills.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on Pulmonary and GI patient populations
- Adult and geriatric patient population with a daily unit census of 27
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Hospitalist-run PCU; no ventilated patients on this unit
- May work without CNA support
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Floating within skillset required
- One holiday worked required per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; a pending license is accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Prior experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown setting required
- Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Familiarity with common PCU IV medications including Cardizem (no titration), Amiodarone, Heparin (protocol), and Insulin (protocol)
- Experience with respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience using rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
