Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position in Denver, CO, requiring a minimum of 1 year of current acute care NICU experience and NRP Advanced 9th Edition certification.
Details
- Level IV NICU (42-bed unit) within a children's hospital setting located on the 4th floor
- Patient population includes complex, high-acuity neonates requiring advanced interventional and supportive care
- Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 depending on acuity
- Equipment includes incubators, radiant warmers, High Frequency Oscillating Ventilation (HFOV), Jet Ventilation, Servo ventilation, tracheostomy, high-flow nasal cannula, NIPPV, central lines, PIVs, Foley catheters, chest tubes, Arctic Sun, and titrated/continuous/intermittent IV and PO medications
- EMR systems used are Neonatal Notes Manager and Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA or ARC accepted), NRP Advanced 9th Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics card required), and PALS required — no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the start date
- Minimum 1 year of recent, current acute care Level IV NICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years of total clinical experience required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Typical procedures include intubation, central line placement, PIV insertion, therapeutic hypothermia, lab draws, sepsis screening, gastric tube placement, circumcisions, and ROP exams
- PICU experience is preferred for floating purposes; post-surgical care experience is also a plus
- Unit staffing per shift includes 1 CNC, 14–17 RNs, and 1 unit coordinator, offering a well-supported team environment
- Candidates benefit from daily learning during rounds, high exposure to advanced procedures, and complex care pathways within a seasoned NICU team
- Ideal candidates demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, proactively seek direction, are accountable and reliable, and maintain emotional regulation in high-acuity situations
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
