Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a hospital in Alexandria, VA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of combined adult and pediatric ED experience and multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS.

Details

• Hospital-based Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric patient population across all zones (no separate pediatric area)
• Common cases include STEMI, stroke, sprains, sutures, high-acuity presentations, and pediatric patients
• Administers drips including routine vasopressors, insulin, and sedation
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1, stretching to 5:1 during peak census
• Primary shift is 7p–7a (12 hours); must also have flexibility to work 3p–3a
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: 6 shifts in 6 weeks
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Experience with both adult and pediatric emergency patients required
• Experience administering vasopressors, insulin drips, and sedation required
