Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience, telemetry monitoring skills, and a valid LA or compact RN license.
Details
- Works in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, GI, neurological, and post-procedural diagnoses such as chest pain, CAD, Afib, Aflutter, bradycardia, tachycardia, COPD exacerbation, TIA, stroke, GI bleed, and wound infections
- Provides pre- and post-procedural care for angiogram/angioplasty (no sheath pulls), PPM/AICD, LINQ recorder, EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, chest tube management, central line catheter insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
- Manages patients on cardiac drips (not titrated for blood pressure)
- Specialized equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and wound vacs
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
Requirements
- Active LA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred (AHA-issued)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Upon accepting this assignment, you may be assigned to an Emergency Team by your unit manager, which may require you to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team during an emergency event — candidates who are not comfortable with this expectation should not apply
- RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
