Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit position requiring telemetry proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience on 12-hour night shifts.

Details

• Work setting is an acute care hospital on the 8 East Med-Surg Stepdown & Floor unit with 34 beds
• Patient population consists of general Med-Surg Stepdown patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for Floor
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Unit is equipped with ventilators; RT is available in-house 24/7
• Telemetry is present on the unit with tele techs who post strips each shift; RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Charting is done in Epic
• Schedule is 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Charge Nurse and Transport RN support available 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM only at optimal staffing
• CNA support available with typically 2–5 Care Assistants on the unit
• Floating to other areas may be required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown or Med-Surg Stepdown experience required
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips required
• Experience titrating drips required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be requested

Additional Information

• Scrub color is Royal Blue
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Anyone who has previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
• Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must also take a 2-year break before returning
• Two supervisor/peer references are required for consideration, including one supervisor reference if the candidate worked a permanent position within the last 12 months
• A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
