Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of ED experience, with a night shift schedule and regional floating requirements.

Details

• Work setting is a community hospital ED with 10 bays and an on-site helipad for transfers
• Facility is not trauma designated, not a Chest Pain Center, and not a Stroke Center; affiliated with community schools of nursing
• Common patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, and minor trauma
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–5 based on acuity; CNA ratio is 1:10
• 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating is required across the region, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any freestanding ED within the region, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates unwilling to float should not apply
• EMR: Epic
• IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips; bedside and central telemetry monitoring available

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in general ED skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, vent management, chest tube care, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract
• Orientation includes a general facility NEO session plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Department support includes CNAs, a charge nurse, an IV/VAT team (ancillary, not in-house daily), 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and an ED physician team

• First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
