Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Renal Unit night shift position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active AL or Compact RN license.
Details
- 36-bed inpatient Renal Unit within a hospital setting
- Cares for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, including those requiring renal replacement therapy
- Specialized procedures include post-hemodialysis care and ongoing peritoneal dialysis management
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as assigned
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active AL state or Compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered if experience was under the highest level of professional licensure
- At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Renal specialty required
- Active license, 2 references from within the last year, skills checklist, and a current driver's license required for consideration
- NURSYS verification required

- Collaborates closely with community nephrologists, family practice providers, and hospitalists to deliver comprehensive renal patient care
- Supports patients across the full care continuum, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond
- Timekeeping system: Centricity
- A Cardiac Exam will be administered after offer acceptance
- No HealthStream modules required prior to start — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
- 13-week contract
