Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 18 months of ED experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- Serves patients of all age groups, treating more than 60,000 patients per year
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3–4 for all other patients
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units and hospital locations required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active RN license in the State of Alabama or a Compact state — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Minimum 18 months of experience, with at least 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience required (2 years preferred)
- Certifications required: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- SECURE certification required (completed on-site)
- NURSYS verification required
- Current driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
Additional Information
- ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff in a 24/7 staffed environment
- All ED RNs are required to complete both an online pre-test and an on-site cardiac/skills exam
- Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
