Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Main Operating Room position requiring 2+ years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience, with weekend day shifts (Friday–Sunday, 3x12s) at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center in Springfield, MO.
Details
- Main OR setting within a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center hospital
- OR department spanning Main OR (22 beds), ASC (8 beds), and Ortho OR (10 beds)
- Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient across all age groups
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Procedures include interventional vascular, endovascular, open vascular, and robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System
- Charting via Epic EMR
- Day shift, 3x12s — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 06:30–18:00
- On-call required on any scheduled day, averaging 5 or fewer calls per 8-week period
- Floating required per facility needs
Requirements
- Active RN license — must hold a Missouri RN license or be eligible for licensure in Missouri (MO or Compact license accepted)
- Current BLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience as both a scrub and circulator
- Minimum 2 years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience required (teaching hospital experience may be considered)
- Minimum 1 year of interventional vascular experience required
- Competency in conscious sedation required
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs are not accepted)
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Assists vascular surgeons in the OR and Hybrid Imaging suite for both endovascular and open cases
- Works alongside a team of nurses and surgical technologists
- Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
- Physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs, and pinching up to 15 lbs; kneeling, crouching, and crawling required minimally
- Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but are subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after completion, a 1-year separation from the facility or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
