Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with strong PICU/NICU and adult care experience for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center.
Details
- Inpatient hospital setting serving a mixed age population across NICU, PICU, ER, and adult intensive care and medical/surgical units
- Critical care respiratory therapy unit with 12 beds and an average daily census of 6-7 ventilated patients
- Therapist-to-patient ratio of 1:12 with approximately 40 patient visits per day
- Patient population spans all age groups, from neonates to adults, with a high volume of NICU cases including frequent use of jet high-frequency ventilation (3-4 patients at a time)
- Specialized equipment includes Maquet Servo i, Draeger V500, Jet Ventilation, Oscillation, and Nitric Oxide delivery systems
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty and to other units and sister facilities within scope
- No on-call required
- 12-week contract
Requirements
- Active RRT credential
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT
- Strong PICU and NICU experience required, including Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU
- Demonstrated competency with all patient age groups, from neonates through adults
- Experience in adult care settings including ER, Level 1 Trauma, and medical/surgical intensive care units
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for candidates with a strong pediatric and NICU-focused skillset who are also competent in adult care settings
- Candidates must be comfortable and clinically competent across all RRT settings and may be assigned to adult care areas based on experience and skillset
- High-acuity NICU environment with frequent jet high-frequency ventilation cases
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Local candidates are considered for this position
- Any time-off requests should be disclosed at the time of consideration
