Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Oncology position requiring prior Step-Down or PCU experience, Epic proficiency, and oncology background at a mixed-acuity medical and radiation oncology unit in Ohio.
Details
- 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients with mixed Med/Surg and Advanced Care acuity
- Patient population includes blood product administration, chemotherapy, drips, PCAs, and wound care patients
- Targeted patient ratio is 1:4, but may range up to 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule: 4x12 hours (19:00–07:30)
- 36 or 48 hours per week available; 18 or 20-week contract options also available in addition to the standard 13-week contract
- No block scheduling
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must float to all Step-Down and Advanced Care units, including high-risk respiratory and COVID units
- If assigned to the main campus (Dayton), floating may include a south campus (Centerville, <10 miles away) and a north campus (Englewood, <15 miles away)
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience required
- Step-Down (SD) or PCU experience required; ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
- 1:5 ratio experience in a SD or PCU setting must be reflected in work history
- Oncology nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Sickle cell experience and ONS Chemo Certification preferred but not required
- Level I or II trauma experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- RNs with ONS Certification may administer chemotherapy on the unit
- Nurses will be fitted for an N95 prior to working on the high-risk respiratory unit (HRRU) unless a PAPR is offered or needed
- Travelers are first to float at the facility's discretion and may be assigned a medically appropriate assignment or support the nursing care team of the floated unit
- Navy blue scrubs required
- All RTO must be requested at the time of initial submission; no RTO will be added after an offer is made, and approval is at the manager's discretion
