Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU (GI) position in Hawaii, requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience and an active Hawaii RN license by the start of the assignment.

Details

• Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting, covering GI and surgical patient populations
• Responsibilities span pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care
• Equipment used includes Meditech EMR, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
• Variable shift schedule with shifts ranging between 8, 10, and 12 hours covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Float coverage between the ASU and PACU units is required
• On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend/holiday shifts

Requirements

• Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of the assignment
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience in an ER or ICU setting in a hospital may be accepted as a substitute
• Strong critical care assessment skills including monitoring post-surgical patients for anesthesia recovery, incision site integrity, body temperature, and hemodynamic stability
• Flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start

Additional Information

• Care responsibilities include pre-op preparation and Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery
• All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of the assignment; candidates should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend the Friday morning Employee Health appointment
• Flu vaccination may be administered at the Employee Health clearance appointment if not already obtained
• Specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required
