Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR experience and an active SD or Compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
• Operating Room unit with 4 OR suites, 1 procedure room, 8 PACU bays, and 18 Patient Center rooms
• Surgical specialties include general, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics
• Patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR; 1:1–4 in the Patient Center depending on acuity; 2:1 in PACU
• Charting via Epic (EMR); medications managed through the Pyxis system
• Surgical equipment includes arthroscopic pumps and shavers, cautery machines, laser, fracture table, and C-arm X-ray
• Day shift, 8-hour shifts
• Call rotation required 1–2 days per week, every 2nd–4th weekend, with rotating holiday coverage
• Floating may be required within the perioperative department, including the Patient Center (pre-op, post-op, outpatient infusions, dressing changes) and PACU
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active SD RN license or Compact RN license required
• BSN required
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• 2 current professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
• Active certifications and license required at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include circulating surgery cases, pulling and prepping for cases, working from a preference card system, and setting up, cleaning, and turning over OR rooms
• Strong organizational and note-taking skills are important for this role
• Orientation includes a department walkthrough, general hospital orientation, and equipment/supply training tailored to the individual's experience level
• Ceil blue scrubs are provided by the facility
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date
• Candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to a pay rate adjustment
