Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, an NC or compact RN license, and proficiency in a broad range of cardiac and interventional procedures.
Details
- Hospital-based Cardiac Cath Lab setting
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours (7:30–18:00), with some early shifts starting at 6:30; one of the four shifts per week is designated as a late shift to complete the last patient of the day
- On-call required one night per week
- Weekend requirement of one weekend every other month
- Floating required on an as-needed basis
- Patient care involves diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, structural heart procedures, and vascular interventions
- Procedures include left and right heart catheterization, PCI, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, rotablator atherectomy, TAVR, Watchman procedure, ASD closures, valvuloplasty, and various endovascular and vascular interventions
- Medications managed include antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
- EMR and unit systems in use: Epic, MAC LAB, CUPID, Pyxis (medications), and SBAR (communication)
- Self-scheduling unit
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required; license may be pending at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; certifications may be pending at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required
- Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab procedures, including cardiac stent placement, PCI, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, and sheath removal/monitoring
- Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring, PA line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Skills in ACT monitoring, cardioversion, topical hemostasis, and circulating/scrubbing procedures in the cardiac cath lab
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided
- Orientation is approximately 24 hours and occurs weekly; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
- Pre-start online modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles); modules must also be completed annually
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; RTO cannot be arranged on-site after booking
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Candidates who have previously worked at this health system as a permanent, PRN, or employed staff member must wait 12 months before being considered for a traveler position
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a different rate
- Travel pairs are welcome, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience
