Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.
Details
- Work in the SICU of a 431-bed short-term acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
- Patient population includes trauma, cardiovascular surgery (TAVRs, CABGs direct from OR), neurosurgery, and other complex surgical cases
- Common diagnoses include acute ventilator need, severe sepsis, DKA, unstable GI bleed, open heart and TAVR recovery, multi-system organ failure, and patients requiring CRRT
- Patient ratios of 1:2–3, adjusted to skill level and acuity during float assignments
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting performed in Epic
- Local candidates are accepted
Requirements
- Active Virginia (VA) or compact RN license required
- Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU or SICU nursing experience required
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- Experience with arterial line management and blood product administration required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing high-acuity surgical cases required
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide high-acuity nursing care to complex surgical and trauma patients in a specialized ICU environment
- Responsibilities include management of arterial lines, ventilators, CRRT, and blood products
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Time-off requests are considered at the manager's discretion
- Travel pairs are welcome but cannot be guaranteed the same schedule
