Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of neuro ICU experience and active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Neuro ICU setting within a large, short-term acute care Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient population includes ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, and neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries)
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Specialized procedures include vasoactive medication management, central line and arterial line management, ICP monitoring (EVDs/bolts), CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
- Specialized equipment includes EVDs and bolts
- Charting is done in Epic; Epic experience is required
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license (or compact RN license) required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a neuro ICU setting required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Preferred certifications/education: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education
- EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills required (Relias EKG exam must be passed)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- 10 hours of stroke education are required and will be completed during orientation (NIHSS certification taken within the year may satisfy up to 3 hours; a new or renewal ACLS taken within the year may also contribute hours)
- Relias EKG exam must be passed prior to or during onboarding
- Scrub color required: Navy Blue
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may work a 36- or 48-hour per week schedule
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work for up to 18 months consecutively, after which a 3-month break is required
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Monthly parking passes are available at various lots and garages near the facility; pricing and availability may vary
