Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring delivery attendance experience, Epic proficiency, and a minimum of 3 years of NICU nursing experience.

Details

• 13-week contract in a hospital NICU setting
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3 in the NICU
• Floating required to the Normal Newborn Nursery (NOU) with ratios of 1:4–6
• Self-scheduling with an every-other-weekend obligation
• Holiday coverage required for at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Epic EMR experience required
• Performs specialized NICU procedures including ventilator and central line management, blood administration, and medication administration via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical, and eye drops/ointment)
• Procedures include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, intubation, nitric oxide and oxygen administration, exchange transfusions, CBG/ABG draws, and diagnostic studies (x-ray, ultrasound, echocardiogram, EEG)

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience required
• Delivery attendance experience (vaginal and C-section) required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Skills required include neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator and central line management, and medication administration
• Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
• Valid Driver's License required for consideration
• Any employment gaps of more than 30 days must be documented and explained

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending deliveries, transitioning newborns, NICU and NOU admissions/discharges, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT)
• Parent education, updates, and breastfeeding support are key components of this role
• Grape/purple scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
• Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be requested for the duration of the contract
