  • PCU-level patients are possible, and travelers are expected to float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed
  • Patient ratios are 1:6 for MS/Tele patients and 1:4 for PCU-level patients

  • Every other weekend is required
  • Scheduling is manager-directed
  • Required skills include MS/Tele, telemetry interpretation and monitoring (unit and remote), dysrhythmia management, use of rapid response teams, colostomy and feeding tube care, renal failure management, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management

  • EMR: Epic (used for documentation); Pyxis for medication management; SBAR for communication
  • Standard equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • MS/Tele unit experience required
  • Must pass an EKG test prior to start
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years are required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Additional Information

  • Unit orientation is 12 hours, with weekly orientation sessions
  • 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed prior to the assignment start date and annually thereafter
  • Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent, PRN, or EP staff must wait 12 months before being considered for a traveler assignment; facility rehire approval is required
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
  • No RTO after booking is permitted and cannot be arranged onsite; excessive call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation
  • Scrub color required: Navy
  • All candidates will be interviewed due to the high-acuity, mixed patient population
  • Travel pairs are welcome — each traveler must have their own transportation and be flexible with different schedules
  • Candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply
  • First-time travelers are not required for this position
