Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a travel contract at a large academic Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of experience and NRP certification.
Details
- Position is in the Neonatal ICU (NICU) of a large, short-term acute care academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds
- Patient ratio is 1:2–4 depending on census and acuity
- Schedules are organized in 6-week blocks and may include day or night shifts (3x12-hour shifts) based on unit needs
- Day shift runs 7:00–19:00; night shift runs 19:00–7:00
- Travelers will not typically be required to switch between day and night shifts within the same week, except during orientation
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating within scope is required to meet facility needs
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- Charting is done in Epic
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending licenses accepted if active prior to start date)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Prior experience in a large trauma center or academic medical center required
- Proficiency with IVs, central lines, OG/NG feeds, and phlebotomy required
- No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
- Former permanent staff of this facility must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
- RTO of up to 7 days may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
- Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
