Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Surgical ICU/CSU (CSICU/CSU) day shift position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift position, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, in a Cardiac Surgical ICU (CSICU) and Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU) setting
• CSICU is a 4-bed unit specializing in adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other surgical conditions requiring critical care
• CSU is an 8-bed stepdown unit focused on post-operative care and recovery of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients
• Care is primarily focused on post-operative recovery and complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Both units are supported by a cardiovascular educator
• Schedule requires working every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required as assigned
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• Charting via Meditech EMR (experience preferred but not required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
• NURSYS verification required
• Certifications required: AHA or Red Cross BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year of recent CVICU specialty experience
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
• Active state or compact RN license, current driver's license, and two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

• Nurses are expected to exhibit high levels of professional competency in managing complex cardiac surgical patients
• Both units take a patient-centered approach to care in a safe and secure environment
• All ICU RNs are required to complete an on-site assessment test in addition to an online pre-test
• Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules — no HealthStream modules required prior to start
• Timekeeping is managed through Centricity
• Solid navy scrubs required
