Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Emergency Department travel assignment in Lufkin, TX, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and multiple active certifications including TNCC.
Details
- Acute care hospital emergency department setting with 24 beds and 3 trauma bays
- Fast track and separate triage area available; travelers may occasionally perform triage
- ER holds are intermixed within the department; RNs care for their own holds
- No separate psych/seclusion rooms; in-house security is available
- Department sees approximately 80–90 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions
- Care team includes ED physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters
- Phlebotomy is performed by techs or RNs; respiratory therapy handles vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ABGs
- RNs must be able to independently read and interpret ECG rhythms — no monitor techs on unit
- CT and X-ray located adjacent to the ED
- Charting is done in Paragon EMR
- Self-scheduling available; 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p)
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating to qualified units may be required
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications (all must be active): BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC or PALS — pending certifications are not accepted
- Ability to independently interpret ECG rhythms
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Navy scrubs required
- Unit-specific orientation provided (12 hours)
