Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and ER experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center acute care hospital.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting at a Level II Trauma Center with 431 staffed beds
- Adult respiratory therapy unit with floating required to the ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units
- Patient population includes adult critical care, emergency department, and stepdown patients
- Specialized procedures include airway management, ABGs, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, nebulizers, aerosol therapies, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies
- Charting via Epic EMR
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
- Mandatory on-call: 3 shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- Block scheduling is not available
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (ACLS may be pending at start with a 90-day window to obtain)
- CRTT certification required
- RRT credential preferred
- Virginia (VA) state license required; license required if applicable
- Minimum experience required in adult critical care, ER, and community hospital settings
- Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABG draw and analysis, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
- Experience in NICU, ED, and adult ICU preferred (experience in all areas not required)
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

- Attendance at monthly department meetings is expected when scheduled; if not working, candidates must review meeting minutes and send written acknowledgment to management
