Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Details
- IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet facility
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- Charting is done in Cerner
- No on-call requirements
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required — pending licensure is not accepted
- Active BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred
- AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team utilization
- Cardiovascular skills required: post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR Band
- IV therapy skills required: accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management
- Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drips (including titration), PCA, and procedural sedation administration
- Neurological experience required: CVA, craniotomy, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Respiratory skills required: ventilated patient care, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
- Additional required skills: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, peripheral nerve block catheters, wound care/wound vac, skin grafts, surgical drains, and isolation precautions
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Cerner experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Scrubs may be any solid color
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
