Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Rochester, NY, requiring active NY licensure and a minimum of 1 year of MS/Tele experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac disease, stroke, infection, pain, and pulmonary embolism (PE)
• Day/evening nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1, with potential stretch to 6–7:1; night ratio is 6–7:1, with potential stretch to 8–10:1 if staff call in
• PCTs are available on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
• Specialized equipment includes bladder scanners, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, and LifePaks
• Floating may be required to MS, ED, ICU (stable patients), and acute brain injury units (stable patients)
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Epic EMR experience is preferred

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — pending licensure is not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Phlebotomy and IV placement skills are mandatory competencies for all RNs in this role
• Experience with peripheral line care/management, non-invasive airway management (nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks), and isolation precautions required
• Experience with rapid response team protocols required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Scrub color requirement: navy blue or white
• RTO requests should be limited to approximately 1 week per assignment
• Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible, but is not guaranteed
