Description

American Traveler is seeking a Step Down RN for a fast-paced heart/vascular moderate care unit requiring 18 months of recent specialty experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• 12-bed, 24-hour observation unit serving the entire heart/vascular service line, including CICU, CVICU, and cardiac/vascular stepdown floors
• Patients include low-acuity critical care cases awaiting placement in an ICU or stepdown unit, as well as same-day procedure patients requiring extended monitoring before discharge
• Accommodates LVADs, 2-4 drips, arterial lines, and PA catheters
• No ventilators, CRRT, or Impella devices used on this unit
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts totaling 36 hours per week
• No on-call responsibilities
• High patient turnover with a wide variety of cardiovascular diagnoses

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required in hand
• BLS certification required
• CCRN certification preferred
• 18 months of experience in the specialty within the past 3 years required
• Experience with presurgical patients and PA lines required
• Full SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Develop critical care skills, organizational abilities, and critical thinking in a fast-paced learning environment
• Must complete a proctored rhythm identification test upon starting, with two attempts allowed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former Emory or Houston permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
• RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 5 days if not falling on or near a holiday, or 3 days if falling on or near a holiday
• Only one holiday RTO request is permitted
