Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical night shift travel position in Alabama, with IV therapy, wound care, and Level II Trauma experience preferred.

• Acute care hospital Med/Surg unit setting
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Skills required include IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating required
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned on an as-needed basis
• 30-minute lunch break is mandatory — no skipped meals

Requirements

• Active Alabama (AL) RN license or compact license — pending license accepted
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Fit Test required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted but may be subject to a different pay rate
• RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
• Hospital housing is available and highly recommended given the remote location — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces (gender-specific units, no dogs allowed)
• Travelers coordinate directly with the facility for housing arrangements
• The facility offers flight reimbursement (economy class only) for travel to and from the assignment — detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted for reimbursement
• Flight itinerary must be provided at least one week prior to start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival
