Description
American Traveler is hiring a Home Health Occupational Therapist with 2+ years of OT experience for a position covering a 50-mile radius around Fort Dodge, IA — first-time travelers welcome!
Details
- Home health setting covering a 50-mile radius around Fort Dodge, IA, averaging 200–250 miles driven per week
- Patient population primarily consists of individuals requiring short-term therapy following hospitalization or a nursing home stay
- Average caseload of 4–6 patients per day
- Team includes 1 PT, 1 OT, 1 PTA, and 1 COTA
- Weekly team meetings are held virtually, with monthly in-person meetings
- Epic is the EMR used; experience preferred but not required
- Traveler will be required to work 1–2 of the following summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day
Requirements
- Active Iowa OT state license required; Iowa compact license accepted — license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of OT experience required
- Home health experience preferred but not required
- Current BLS certification required
- Personal vehicle required; mileage is reimbursed
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- One supervisory reference from within the last 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Must not have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation begins on a Monday and includes a general organization orientation, required online courses, 2 days of Epic EMR training, and several days of ride-along/shadow visits
- A Therapy Manager provides support during the first couple of weeks, reviewing documentation and answering questions virtually
- Travelers are typically fully productive by week 3
- Skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
