Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at an acute care hospital in Spruce Pine, NC, requiring telemetry experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift position with hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Acute care PCU unit located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital building
• 25-bed inpatient unit with capacity for up to 27 patients including ED holds
• Patient population includes acute care and PCU-level cases requiring telemetry and continuous O2 monitoring
• Equipment used includes BiPAP, Vapotherm, patient lifts, Baxter pumps, and telemetry/continuous O2 monitors
• EMR system is Cerner
• Day shift staffing includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs/HUC
• Rotating weekends required with scheduling flexibility
• Floating to the ED may be required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a PCU or acute care setting
• Telemetry experience is required
• ICU experience is preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Wound care is among the typical procedures performed on this unit
• Team-oriented candidates with strong communication skills are the best fit for this unit
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date; AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
