Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a float-based Progressive Care / Telemetry position requiring Epic proficiency, drip management experience, and an active IA or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital setting with a 130-bed facility
- No dedicated home unit — nurse will float across Med/Surg, Behavioral Health, ED, ICU, and post-procedural areas based on census and staffing needs
- Primary care responsibilities are Med/Surg-based with floating to units where assistance is most needed
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Telemetry monitoring responsibilities including rhythm strip reads and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Required drip management includes: heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
- Epic EMR — experience required
Requirements
- Active IA single-state or compact/multistate RN license required
- Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
- De-escalation certification (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, or CPI) preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
- Minimum 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Surg-Telemetry required
- Proficiency with telemetry monitoring, EKG/ECG reads, rhythm strips, and dysrhythmia interpretation required
- Experience and proficiency with heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin drips required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skills checklist specific to Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Tele discipline required
- One supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have at least 2 years of nursing experience; hospital or medical center experience is prioritized
- Must pass a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a score of 80% or higher during onboarding
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates will be considered
- Required to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day
- Candidates who were previously employed by the facility within the past 12 months may not be eligible for consideration
