Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU Charge RN position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Level III NICU in a hospital setting, working with neonatal and infant patient populations
• Shifts are 3x12-hour nights, 19:00–07:30
• Weekend shifts scheduled as needed to meet unit needs
• Role includes both bedside and charge nurse responsibilities
• Floating required, with potential to float between units within the health system
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Medication system: Omnicell
• Patient ratios include 1:1 and 1:2 care focused on high-risk neonates

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and Advanced NRP
• Minimum 3 years of solid NICU experience required
• Level III NICU experience required; Level III, Level III+, or Level IV experience preferred
• Experience with high-risk deliveries and admissions required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Experience with neonates <24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and >34 weeks gestational age
• Demonstrated skills in advanced neonatal respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, High Frequency Ventilation, Inhaled Nitric Oxide, Oscillators, Vapotherm, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
• Experience with UAC and UVC placement and management
• Proficiency in arterial line management, central line blood draw, and IV placement
• Skills in neonatal dosage calculations, blood product administration, and IV vasopressor management
• Experience with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, seizure disorders, sepsis workups, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Familiarity with SBAR communication framework

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries and managing critically ill neonates across all gestational age groups
• Charge nurse duties performed on designated shifts in addition to bedside care
• Daily responsibilities include developmental care, patient and family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, phototherapy, and breastfeeding support
• Management of chest tubes, tracheostomies, NG/NJ tubes, and respiratory distress syndrome cases
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply at the local rate

• Two professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
