Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a Level II Trauma Center in Oconomowoc, WI, requiring 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Details

• Work in a 14-bed ICU on the 2nd floor of a 91-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center in Oconomowoc, WI
• Patient population includes general/medical (sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, respiratory failure, kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, DKA), cardiac (CHF, STEMI/NSTEMI, post-cath), trauma (GSW, stabbings, falls), surgical (GYN, GI, GU), and neuro (SDH, TBI, CVA, TIA, syncope) cases — no cardiovascular surgeries
• Patient ratio is 1:1–3; when assigned 3 patients, team nursing applies with an experienced Med/Surg RN
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• One holiday required per contract
• Travelers float first; may float anywhere in the hospital within scope of practice, including Med/Surg, Tele units, or ED Boarding (1:4 ratio when floating to MS/Tele)
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Schedule is made in 6-week increments

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency required in: vent/trach management, tube/drain management, chest tubes, invasive line management (art line, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, surgical recovery, and medication titration (sedation, pressors, cardiac, pain, paralytics)
• Preferred skills: abdominal pressure monitoring, EVDs, CVVH, and IABP
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 2 days: Day 1 includes credential setup and unit training; Day 2 is a full 12-hour precepted shift on the unit
• Unit support includes a Charge RN (typically takes a patient assignment), 1–2 CNAs per shift, bedside and centralized tele monitoring, a HUC on day shift, a break buddy system, RT 24/7, Hospitalists 24/7, Intensivist 24/7, and OT/PT/ST during daytime hours
• Scrubs should be any solid color, professional — no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available in designated employee areas
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
