Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Progressive Care Unit position requiring both KS and MO (or compact) RN licensure and a minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience.
Details
- This is a float pool position — clinicians will not be assigned a home unit and will float between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments across multiple metro campuses as needed
- Patient population includes cardiac (pre/post cath, A-fib), neuro (stroke), sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID patients
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Equipment used includes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
- Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac telemetry monitoring, and familiarity with MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings
- Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
Requirements
- Active RN license for both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact license, must be in hand prior to consideration — willingness to float across state lines is required
- Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Preferred certification: ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Two professional references required: at least one must be at the supervisor level or above, and the second may be a charge RN — both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN must be provided for consideration
Additional Information
- Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage may be required as needed per unit policy
- RTO requests are capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- Completion of online compliance modules (approximately 10–15 hours total) is required prior to the start date
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted
