Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2
• ICU unit serving a diverse and complex patient population including respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
• Unit also covers pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries, medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant patients, and end-of-life/organ donation cases
• Specialized equipment includes IV pumps for titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within service line to other ICU units as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Experience in both Medical ICU and Surgical ICU settings required
• Required clinical skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, blood product administration, CRRT/dialysis, phlebotomy, and wound/drain/wound vac care
• Epic EMR experience required
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

• 13-week contract with option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
• Navy scrubs required
• Monthly parking passes are available through the facility's Public Safety department
