Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Large, high-acuity general Emergency Department (non-trauma) with 59 beds, averaging 165–175 patients per day
- Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
- Stroke and STEMI Certified facility
- Patient ratio is 1:4
- Evening shift, 3x12-hour shifts (1:00 PM – 1:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating is rare but may occur within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- EMR: Epic (required); Pyxis also in use
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum is 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates apply: Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage is required based on the number of major holidays that fall within the assignment period: if one or two major holidays occur, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if three major holidays occur, travelers must work two of them and may request one holiday off
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
- No scheduling changes or alternate shift requests are permitted; the posted evening shift is firm
- Travelers who have previously worked at any facility within this health system must have been away for a full calendar year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time to avoid a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
