Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring at least 2 years of experience, conscious sedation skills, and IR procedure knowledge including stroke.
Details
- Works in an Interventional Radiology unit at a tertiary care center
- Workload consists of approximately 16 cases per day across three IR rooms, with pre/post coverage in the Radiology Pre Post Unit (RPPU) as needed
- Patient population includes IR cases including stroke procedures
- Schedule is 4x10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
- On-call is required on a rotational basis, including evening/overnight call from end of shift until 7:00 AM, and 24-hour call on weekends (Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
- Call rotation includes approximately 8 call days per 13-week contract, with the possibility of being on call for one holiday
- Weekend availability is required based on the call rotation
- No floating required
- EMR: Epic; also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
- Schedule is manager-assigned
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required; may be submitted with license pending
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Proficiency in conscious sedation and telemetry required
- Knowledge of IR procedures, including stroke, required
- PALS, circulating, and ventilator experience preferred
Additional Information
- 8-hour unit orientation plus a full week of hospital orientation; candidate must be available for orientation classes each day
- Approximately 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required (non-paid); modules must also be completed annually
- Scrubs are provided (ceil blue)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months are highly preferred; pending references are accepted at time of consideration but required before start
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved without facility sign-off, provided the time does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays; there is also a possibility of being on call for one holiday
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a different pay rate
- Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
- An interview with the manager is required prior to any offer being extended
