Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• 32-bed combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department at a 280-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center
• Patient ratio of 1:4 for all shifts
• Average daily census of 120 patients
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (1900–0730)
• Weekend coverage required as needed
• Floating is required for all travelers, both within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Wide range of cases including cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, and trauma

Requirements

• Active IL RN license (or ETA) required
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and TNCC — must be active and issued by AHA or Red Cross (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Experience in a general combined adult/pediatric ED required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management
• IV/phlebotomy skills required: blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, starting IVs
• Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics and sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation
• Neurological case experience required: CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI
• Trauma case experience required: gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, ortho-trauma
• Pediatric case experience required across a broad range of presentations including burns, seizures, respiratory infections, mental/behavioral health, and more
• Psychiatric case experience required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, managing violent behavior
• Respiratory skills required: chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, ventilated patients
• Additional skills required: triage, isolation precautions, telemetry interpretation, ventilator management
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
