Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- 32-bed combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department at a 280-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center
- Patient ratio of 1:4 for all shifts
- Average daily census of 120 patients
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (1900–0730)
- Weekend coverage required as needed
- Floating is required for all travelers, both within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
- No on-call requirements
- Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Wide range of cases including cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, and trauma
Requirements
- Active IL RN license (or ETA) required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and TNCC — must be active and issued by AHA or Red Cross (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Experience in a general combined adult/pediatric ED required
- Level II Trauma Center experience required
- Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management
- IV/phlebotomy skills required: blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, starting IVs
- Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics and sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation
- Neurological case experience required: CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI
- Trauma case experience required: gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, ortho-trauma
- Pediatric case experience required across a broad range of presentations including burns, seizures, respiratory infections, mental/behavioral health, and more
- Psychiatric case experience required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, managing violent behavior
- Respiratory skills required: chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, ventilated patients
- Additional skills required: triage, isolation precautions, telemetry interpretation, ventilator management
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
