Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position with a focus on renal and limb preservation patients, requiring at least 2 years of experience and telemetry skills on a 12-hour night shift schedule.
Details
- 41-bed inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a focus on renal and limb preservation patients
- Patient population includes ESRD, ARF, vascular procedures, CHF, diabetics, and diabetic foot ulcer cases
- Patients requiring hemodialysis are treated in the facility's dedicated hemodialysis unit; peritoneal dialysis is performed on the unit with initiation by the dialysis team
- Patient ratio is 1:5-6
- Uses Epic (EMR), Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15), 4 shifts per week
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Floating is required
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
- 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts may be considered
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required; may submit with license pending
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Required certification: BLS
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Telemetry experience required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Must pass an EKG test prior to start
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references required by start date
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 24 hours (2 shifts with a preceptor plus EMR education); orientation begins during weekly orientation sessions
- 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must also be completed annually
- Interdisciplinary team includes hospitalists, RN navigators, NAs, dietary, PT/OT, and pharmacy, with daily team meetings
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
- Any previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before working as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is flexible with differing schedules
- Scrubs are not provided; navy or white scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
