Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a high-acuity Magnet teaching hospital, requiring strong neuro experience and the ability to circulate all cases including cardiac and transplant.
Details
- Position is in the Operating Room of a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds
- High-acuity OR environment with 28 rooms and an average daily census of 50–75
- Patient population includes orthopedic/sports (minimally invasive arthroscopic), laparoscopic, robotics, general, GYN, urology, and plastics cases
- Cardiac and transplant case circulation is a core expectation of this role
- Experience in neuro, spine, thoracic, and vascular is a plus
- Floating within the hospital to other specialties when census is slow; no floating to sister hospitals
- Night shift: 4x10-hour shifts, 2100–0730
- No call required
- Weekend requirements TBD
- Charting system: Epic (preferred but not required)
- Scrubs are provided for OR personnel (any color)
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 3–4 years of OR RN experience required
- Strong neuro OR experience required
- Experience circulating cardiac, transplant, and robotic cases strongly preferred
- Proficiency across multiple OR service lines preferred
- Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
- COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions
- Two professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- This role functions as the sole circulator and must be willing to circulate all case types
- May be assigned charge nurse duties as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restriction
- RTO is not permitted during orientation week and should otherwise be kept to a minimum; maximum of 1 week of RTO per contract
- Prior UW staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before returning as a traveler
- 13-week minimum contract length; interest in an extended contract beyond 13 weeks is encouraged
