Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring SC or compact RN license and telemetry experience

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend coverage required as needed
• On-call requirement of 2 shifts per 6 weeks, or 2 additional shifts per 6 weeks in lieu of on-call
• 13-week assignment length
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Cardiac telemetry and respiratory care including chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management

Requirements

• Active RN license (SC or compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained before start date
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI
• 2 years of experience preferred; will consider candidates with 1+ year on a case-by-case basis
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Recent Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
• Orthopedic and spine experience preferred
• Skills in port access/management, blood product administration, and chemotherapy administration preferred
• Must be able to pass arrhythmia and medication competency tests on first day of orientation
• Must be able to pass an onsite respirator fit test (may require shaving for proper fit)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a med/surg telemetry unit including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and medication administration
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with initial application; RTO requests made after placement will not be considered
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous permanent staff members are not eligible to return to this health system as a traveler
• Facility maintains an attendance policy; missing more than two shifts per 13-week contract without reasonable explanation may result in contract review for cancellation
• Cardiac Dysrhythmia and Moderate Sedation competency testing administered on the first day of orientation, with one opportunity to pass
