Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a 13-week NICU day shift travel assignment at a hospital in Irving, TX.
Details
- Inpatient hospital setting, Respiratory Therapy unit focused on NICU care (2nd floor)
- Day shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Rotating weekend coverage required
- Patient assignment for primary RT covers NICU, Med/Surg Telemetry (MST), and/or PCU; secondary RT covers ER, ICU, MST, or PCU — subject to change based on acuity
- Equipment used includes ventilators (Servo U, PB 980, MR1 transport vent, Hamilton Medical C1), BiPAP (V60, C1), Fisher & Paykel bubble CPAP, and Fisher & Paykel HFNC
- EMR: Meditech
- No floating required
Requirements
- NBRC RRT credential required
- Active TX state RRT license required (license required if applicable)
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics) certifications required — AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in respiratory therapy
- Must have active clinical experience within the last 6 months in the role
- Critical care management for adult ventilator patients
- Experience with vent weaning guidelines
- Trach care management
- Emergency and standard airway management across all patient populations
- EKG procedure competency
- Blood gas analysis and ABG sample draw technique
- RT medication administration
- RT plan of care, assessment, and progress evaluation
- Oxygen therapy experience
- Code Blue, Trauma, and STEMI response experience
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required (two required if candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- NICU experience is preferred and will be prioritized during candidate review
- Typical procedures include blood gas analysis, bedside bronchoscopy assist, emergency and routine airway management, and EKGs
- Black scrubs required
- First-time travelers will not be considered — prior travel assignment experience is implied by the travel position type
- Local candidates are not accepted — no exceptions
