Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in a high-acuity cardiac-focused unit, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care PCU experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.

- Night shift position, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Located on the 5th floor (Northwest Tower) of a main hospital building in the Denver/Englewood, CO area
- Cardiology-focused Progressive Care Unit (PCU) serving as a cardiac center of excellence
- 30-bed unit staffed by RNs and PCTs; day shift includes 1 Charge RN, 5–8 RNs, and 2–4 PCTs; night shift includes 1 Charge RN, 5–8 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs
- Patient ratio is typically 1:4, with some shifts at 1:5
- Patient population includes post-cath care (right and left heart caths, TAVRs, ablations, Watchmans, pacemaker implantations), post-thoracic surgery (VATs/RATs, resections, lobectomies), pre- and post-op open-heart surgical patients (CABGs, MVRs, AVRs, aortic dissection repairs), and vascular surgery post-op care
- Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow, chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires/pacers, IV pumps, and SCD pumps
- Preferred experience includes chest tube management and removal, pacer wire removal, 12-lead EKGs, O2 management up to BiPAP and heated high-flow, and drip management (heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, ketamine)
- EMR: Meditech
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care PCU experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSN accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- High-acuity, fast-paced cardiac progressive/intermediate care unit at a cardiac center of excellence
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- The ideal candidate is a strong team player who is high-energy, flexible, adaptable, and values communication and collaboration
