Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel position at an acute care facility in Frankfort, KY, requiring at least 2 years of med/surg experience and telemetry skills.
Details
- Work on a 46-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes general med/surg, telemetry, and post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) cases
- Patient ratio is 6:1
- Procedures performed on the unit include telemetry monitoring and paracentesis
- Equipment used includes GE Apex Pro Telemetry, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals machine, and Glucometer
- Documentation system is Meditech Expanse
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- May float to 3 South (post-surgical Med/Surg) or to the PCU to staff telemetry overflow
Requirements
- Active KY or compact RN license in good standing
- Current BLS (AHA or ARC) required; ACLS preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required (must be renewed annually)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
- Telemetry experience required, including EKG interpretation
- Post-PCI experience required
- CPAP management and port access skills required
- Preferred experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, and blood transfusions
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
- Unit is staffed by Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurses), RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, and Unit Clerks based on patient census
- Unit is supported by a director, manager, and clinical educator
- Strong interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with all providers
- The unit has an active traveler community with many extending contracts due to team culture
- Navy blue or gray scrubs required; royal blue scrubs are not permitted
- No T-shirts, fleece jackets, or sweatshirts; patterned scrub jackets and long-sleeve shirts under scrub tops are acceptable
- Staff recognition programs include Daisy Nominations, bi-weekly unit prizes, and inclusion in hospital celebrations
- GroupMe is used for team communication and celebration
