Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring CVICU experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment including ECMO, IABP, and Impella.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- CVICU unit within a Level I Trauma, Teaching, Children's Hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Patient population includes post-op open hearts, CABG, aortic aneurysm repair/dissection, femoral-popliteal bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Charting via Cerner
- Equipment includes CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladderscanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Philips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, Glidescope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and Bair Hugger
- Weekends required as needed
- No on-call requirement
- May be floated within scope to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, or PACU to care for admitted patients
Requirements
- Active New Mexico or Compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- CVICU experience preferred
- Proficiency with bedside procedures including post-op open heart care, bedside tracheostomy/PEG, bedside surgical procedures, CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, CVCs, chest tubes, Foley insertion, and NG tubes
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrub color required: black
- Free parking available on-site
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all time off requests should be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in length
